Information about Fepileons
Information about Fepileons:
Avg. height (when standing on all four of course):
6ft
Avg. length: (end of muzzle to tip of tail):
112 ft
Natural habitat:
Temperate regions (more dull colored ones)
Tropical regions (brightly colored ones)
Diet:
Prefers to eat meat
Not particularly found of fowl (birds), but will still eat them
Will occasionally eat insects
Behavior in the Wild:
They mate fore life and will rarely mate with another Fepileon if it's mate dies (in some cases they die of depression).
Pack animals. The young will occasionally remain with the parents to helpt guard their land from potential threats. However, if one of the male offsprings begin to become agressive and appears to become a threat, the male parent will chase it off.
Even though they mate for life, the pair will perform an elegant dance during mating season to proclaim that they are paired (and make sure no other Fepileon attempts to mate with one of them).
Otherwise, the males perform a mating ritual that involves many elegant "dance moves" and gliding in order to impress females. Normally, if males compete for a female they test to see who can remain in the air the longest or perform bluff attacks (including showing of the size of the tentacles on their backs). Rarely do they actually begin fighting each other. This is because their of their wings, which are farly delicate (with the help of their hallow bones which makes them suprsingly light for their size, their wings allow them to glide in the air for a short while).
Because of their long legs and slender bodies they can reach top speeds of about 80 mph. They can suprisingly maneauver through dense vegitation suprisingly well.
They prefer to wait for prey to come before striking. Rarely do they actually go out and hunt down prey.
The whiskers and antennas are used to detect virbrations in the air and ground in order for them to determine the size and distance of other creaures. The purpose of the tentacle like things on their backs is just for impressing possible mates (a healthier, stronger male will have larger ones; they begin to appear during sexual maturity). The butterfly like thing on the ends of tail are used to lure in prey or distract possible predators.
Information for when you take one home:
These creatures are very loyal to those they consider part of their park. Such as with dogs, you need to establish you are the pack leader. However, they are similar to felines in the fact that they are independent and prefer to do things at their own pace. Nevertheless, they enjoy snuggling up to their owners. Occasionally, they forget their size and try to jump onto their owner's laps or hop on them in excitment. If not trained properly, they can become fiercly teritorial and wary of strangers (this can become really bad when the mailman comes ;A; ). They do require excersise and space, but suprisingly most of the time you will see your Fepileon lounging around. This makes them okay in cities, apartments and condos are iffy (depedning on how large they are). However, if left unattended and with nothing to do, it will become bored and get into everything, so toys are essential. Their fur is short so they don't require a lot of grooming, anyways,Fepileons prefer grooming themselves.
